Let’s Spend the Day in Montrose!
Montrose is one of the most iconic neighborhoods in Houston and for good reason! With fall in full bloom, now is the perfect time to spend the day exploring one of our favorite neighborhoods in Montrose. Whether you walk, rent a bike, or drive around, it’s a gorgeous time of the year to enjoy yourself in an area of Houston like no other. Whether you live in Houston or are moving to Houston soon, here’s a few of our favorite Montrose places:
Start the Day Off Right with Brunch at Empire Café on Westheimer
Empire Café has a fantastic patio out front and one on the side that are perfect for a beautiful fall day. It’s the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee and an omelet and read a good book or catch up with friends. Coffee comes with 2 little tasty cookies and a brewed coffee refill is usually on the house. See their menu and hours here: https://empirecafe.com/
Check Out the Bedding at Biscuit!
Biscuit Home is a boutique bedding company from here in Houston. If you are looking for inspiration for redesigning a new room in your home or want some fantastic linens, you’ve got to check them out! You are going to love it! Check out their store here: https://www.biscuit-home.com/
The Menil Collection – A Houston Icon Like No Other
There may not be another museum in America as cool or open as the Menil Collection! Right now on view, check out their Thirty Works for Thirty Years show – it’s a retrospective of sorts featuring works from every year they have been open. The show is spread across the Menil campus, which is over a two-block area smack in the middle of Montrose. If you love art, be sure to visit the Cy Twombly Gallery as well. See their hours and info on exhibitions here. https://www.menil.org/
Underbelly for Lunch is a Must!
Underbelly is the perfect spot for lunch in Montrose. If you have never been, Underbelly is a new-American restaurant that blends different cultural cuisines found here in Houston. It’s a great reflection of the awesome diversity in the city – in food! You’ve got to go if you haven’t yet! See their menus here (You’re going to get hungry just reading it!). http://www.underbellyhouston.com/food/
Lo-Fi & Buffalo Exchange
If you love searching for a good find, check out Lo-Fi & Buffalo Exchange for a fun selection of vintage fashion. Lo-Fi is more curated, but has a smaller selection than Buffalo Exchange. Either way, you can’t go wrong!
Grab Happy Hour Drinks at Momo Food +Wine
We Love Momo Food+Wine! It’s may not be in Montrose proper, but it’s the perfect spot to end your day exploring (or get your evening off to a great start). The atmosphere has a great vibe and the wine selection is phenomenal. It’s a great spot to relax with friends and having some laughs and a good time. See their menu (and check out the delicious Chickpea Waffle) here: momohtx.com
