Kayla Sorrell, Pop Realty’s principal Broker, answers this frequently-asked question:
“How should you evaluate real estate agents when looking for help to buy a home?”
“There are many ways for a home buyer to determine if a Realtor® is a good fit.
“At Pop Realty, we recommend that buyers ensure they are working with a full-time realtor; someone who eats, sleeps and breathes real estate! Unfortunately, many agents practice real estate part-time or sporadically. Real estate transactions can be complicated. Each comes with different curve balls. It’s important for buyers to have an experienced agent.
“Buyers should also ask what types of homes the agent has experience with. For example, a 1920’s Heights Bungalow has different obstacles than a new construction home in Cypress when starting contract negotiations, repairs, appraisals, insurance, deed restrictions, and other transaction steps.
“Home buyers should research the agent’s reputation. Online reviews are a great way to see what others are saying. Buyers can access reviews on the agents’ pages on HAR.com, the Houston Association of Realtors. Other helpful agent review sites are Yelp, Zillow, and Google.”
If you’re moving to Houston, are buying your first home, or have not bought real estate in a while, it’s good to look at reviews and ask questions to evaluate and choose your real estate agent.
